Grocery Delivery Program

Shoppers wearing masks with groceriesNew Day Foundation for Families needs YOUR help! We are looking for volunteers to assist with grocery shopping/delivery to help cancer patients who are immune-suppressed and need to avoid busy stores. Your kindness offers protection for patients and families who are highly vulnerable while in treatment for cancer, especially during the COVID-19 crisis.

Volunteer to help:

1. Shop and deliver groceries

New Day will match you with a family in need. We will send you their grocery list and contact information. You coordinate a time to drop off the groceries directly with them. (All deliveries should be contactless/porch drop.) After you shop and deliver, submit your receipt to New Day for reimbursement or consider the groceries a donation and receive a tax receipt for your contribution. Shop at any store you like and know that driving to make the delivery is an incredible act of kindness for a family with cancer!

2. Handle only shopping OR delivery

We understand everyone’s schedule and skillset is different…If you are only able to shop OR deliver, we can still use the extra hands. Let us know your availability and we can match you with a team!

3. Assist with Pantry Basket deliveries

New Day works with the Islamic Association of Greater Detroit (IAGD) to distribute grocery staples to area cancer families. The pick up and deliveries take place every third Saturday. The pick up is in Rochester and deliveries need to be made across the metro Detroit area. Do a good deed by simply spending a little time in the car!

Email Jo Long to get involved or for more information about the program. We are looking for shoppers and delivery throughout Southeastern Michigan at this time.
