New Day Foundation for Families distributes short-term financial grants, for basic living expenses, on behalf of cancer patients who have lost all or a part of their income during active treatment.
The following serve as the core requirements for New Day beneficiaries:
Eligible expenses are considered to be necessity items, including health insurance premiums, mortgage or rent payments, car payments, car insurance, utilities food and/or fuel costs. New Day does not make payments for any medical treatments, prescription drugs, medical co-pays, insurance deductibles, or credit cards (monthly payments or balances). Payments are made directly to the patient’s creditors.
In addition to these guidelines, New Day has a formal Family Grant Review Committee that evaluates each grant request and makes final decisions. In most scenarios, New Day Foundation will make a one-time grant to an approved family. However, in some cases in which significant financial need is demonstrated, we may review a second request for the same family. Please note our ability to provide support varies based on the number of qualified applicants and available funding.
To apply for assistance, please contact the oncology social worker at your hospital who can help you begin the application process with New Day. Contact from social work is required prior to receiving an application. Thank you.
