Gr. Rapids Father Faces Cancer Twice

Life was going well for Steve. He worked part-time for Delta Airlines and managed a furniture store he had built with care. He and his wife were raising their two children, ages 11 and 13, and the future looked stable.

That all changed two years ago when Steve was diagnosed with cancer. After enduring treatment and entering remission, he was hopeful. But just 10 months later, the cancer returned, this time more aggressive and harder to treat.

Steve has been hospitalized for months due to complications related to his second relapse. He’s in the middle of chemotherapy during a hospital stay that has included infections, an enlarged intestine and overwhelming fatigue but through it all, he remains hopeful and surrounded by support from friends, family and his faith.

Steve’s only current income comes from disability and keeping up with the bills of the past has become overwhelming as he tries to sustain his family business while ill.

Despite everything, Steve is focused on healing and being present for his children. At New Day, we’re honored to step in during this critical time, helping lift the financial weight so Steve can focus on his health and the people who need him most.
